Professor L.N. Mittal is a Chartered Civil Engineer of The Institution of Engineers (India). He did his M. Tech in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and Ph.D from Birla Institute of Science & Technology, Pilani. Dr. L.N Mittal was formerly Professor & Head, Curriculum Development Centre at National Institute of Technical Teacher Training & Research, Chandigarh and Professor Emeritus at Lingaya’s University, Faridabad. Dr. Mittal has rendered over 5 decades of meritorious services in the field of Technical and Vocational Education, Curriculum Development, Faculty Development, Entrepreneurship Development and Promoting Industry Institute Linkages. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) , life member of Indian Society for Technical Education, Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India, Geo-technical Society of India and many more professional bodies in India and abroad. He has contributed significantly in various Task Groups constituted by Government of India for Quality Improvement of Technical & Vocational Education.
He is widely travelled in India and abroad and participated in two International Conferences in Scotland and Jamaica. He has been consultant to many Organizations like: UNESCO; AICTE; Educational Consultants India; PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Employers’ Federation of India and many other organizations in the field of Civil Engineering. He contributed significantly for M/S Uttam Singh Duggal & Company; AIMIL; Beas Sutlej Link Project; Hindustan Prefab Limited; and Royal Netherlands Building Construction Company. He has over 5 dozen research papers to his credit which find place in National and International Journals. He has published half a dozen books and various other types of instructional resources (print and non-print) for the benefit of teaching fraternity. He was co-author of UNESCO sponsored Pilot Project in Soil Engineering.
Professor Mittal has been conferred with many awards and recognition for his meritorious services. Some of these awards include: Life Time Achievement Awards by The Institution of Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineers and Top Rankers Management Consultants for his meritorious Services in the field of Technical Education in 2013 & 2014 respectively; Calcutta Convention National Gold Medal by Indian Society of Technical Education for presenting a concept paper on “Cooperative Education”; Indian Builders’ Congress Gold Medal for co-authoring a paper on Improving Technical Manpower in Civil Engineering and many more.
